Golf
Golf, còn được viết là gôn (bắt nguồn từ từ tiếng Pháp golf /ɡɔlf/),[3] là một môn thể thao mà người chơi sử dụng nhiều loại gậy để đánh bóng vào một lỗ nhỏ trên sân golf sao cho số lần đánh càng ít càng tốt. Không giống như hầu hết các trò chơi với bóng khác, golf không yêu cầu một khu vực thi đấu được tiêu chuẩn hóa. Cuộc chơi diễn ra trên một sân đã được sắp xếp theo một chu trình định sẵn gồm 09 lỗ hoặc 18 lỗ (hay hố). Mỗi lỗ trên sân đi kèm với một khu vực phát bóng, và một khu vực putting green bao gồm lỗ golf (rộng 10,79 cm). Ở giữa hai khu vực trên là các dạng địa hình tiêu chuẩn khác như fairway (khu vực giữa tee box và putting green), rough (cỏ dài), hố cát, và các chướng ngại vật (nước, đá, bụi cỏ). Tuy nhiên mỗi khu vực lỗ trên sân có một thiết kế và cách bố trí khác nhau. Có hai kiểu thi đấu golf chính. Trong kiểu stroke play (chơi theo gậy) người chơi golf cố gắng đạt số gậy thấp nhất; còn ở kiểu match play cá nhân hay đội chơi cố gắng thắng nhiều hố hơn đối phương. Stroke play là thể thức phổ biến nhất.
